Welcome to the Marshfield Middle School band page! My name is Kathy Phillips and I will be working with your son/daughter in  band this year. Let me start by giving you a little of my background. I completed my undergraduate work at Luther College in Decorah, IA, where I majored in music education. My teaching career began in north central Iowa where I taught band in a small school district for 3 years. After completing these three years as the band director for grades 5-12, I was ready for a change. I signed on with another district for the 7-12 grade band position. Shortly after moving to Marshfield in 1988, I began working on my masters degree at the University of WI, St. Point. I completed my MME degree in 1992. Although I have taught at the elementary, middle school and high school levels with the Marshfield school district, I am truly happy at the middle school level. This present school year begins my 30th year of teaching band! I can tell you I am as excited about the opportunities that await the students this year, as I was back in 1982!
