MOS Certification (Microsoft Office Specialist)

TheComputer Studies,   Business Coop, & Information Technology Youth Apprenticeship courses offered in the Business and Information Technology Department  are aligned with competencies from certification programs.  Through these courses, students can prepare to learn and improve their computer application skills .  In addition, students can integrate their business skills in real-world work experience through Business Coop & Youth Apprencticeship.

Students who complete a course and pass a certification tests can realize many tangible and many intangible benefits.  The first benefit is cost.  Costs of training for a certification exam from an outside company range from $1,000 to$2,000 per certification.  The second advantage to students is the ability to gain employment beyond an entry-level position.  Finally, post-secondary educational institutions are including certification as part of a degree program.  Students earn advanced standing credit by passing one or more certification exam. 

Certification is offered in the following areas:  MS Word, MS Access, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook.

The Business Systems Department is an official MOS certification testing site.  For more information on taking MOS certification tests, see Mr. Treankler in Room 70 or Mrs. Dietsche in Room 72.

Luke Schiferl received a Microsoft Office XP Master certification.  MOS Master XP certification is passing tests in all of the following areas:  MS Word, MS Access, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook.
