REMINDER: We will have regular full school days for all students and staff on April 2 and April 21. These are make-up days for previous school cancellations due to winter weather conditions.
FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all of the new students and all of the returning students to Washington Elementary School for the 2013 - 2014 school year. I hope that all of you had a great summer and that you are ready for the school year to begin.
I encourage all parents to become an active participant in your child's education. I hope that during the school year you find the time to visit your child's classroom and to get to know your child's teacher(s). I also encourage you to take an active role as a classroom or school volunteer if time permits in your schedule. I also encourage you to become an active member of the Washington Elementary School PTO. The PTO meets one time a month and you are welcome to attend those monthly meetings. Please check the calendar on our website or in the monthly newsletters for the dates and times of those meetings.
I would like to remind parents that if you have specific questions or concerns related to your child's education, that you talk to the classroom teacher first since they are on the "front lines" with the children and they obviously have a better handle on the daily activities that are going on in their classrooms. However, please be aware that my door is always open and that I will gladly visit with you about any concerns or compliments that you have regarding Washington School.
Our goal at Washington School is to provide your child(ren) with the most positive and productive school experience possible. With all of us - parents, teachers, students, support staff, and myself - working together, we can be assured that this will be accomplished.
