Exiting the dense swamp into the more open swamp. The tall red pines on the right side of the image on the horizon was the key exit point for the swamp.
Half way across the open swamp moving to the point of high ground.
The old trail is clearly visible and is maintained by animals.
View from the path to the west across the vast swamp that 6-Pause Portage must cross.
Cranberries had just gone from flower to fruit in early July and huge numbers of these berries cover the miles of swamp. These berries would be ready for harvest in late September.
Blueberries were ripe and covered much of the swamp. Blueberries and cranberries intermingled over the swamp.
Bear track found along the trail. Bears like berries!!!!!
